Google’s Nest app not working for many due to widespread outage


The Google Home app has largely taken over for most Nest users, but if you still prefer to access older hardware through the Nest app, a widespread outage has disrupted functionality for many.

For the past five years, the Google Home app has been replacing the Nest app. At this point, the vast majority of Nest devices are compatible with the main Google Home app. Late last year, Google Home introduced the ability to mass import older Nest equipment.

But right now, anyone trying to access the legacy Nest app could run into problems.

Nest users report reddit rags and fall detector The Nest app returns with an error message that says, “There was a problem connecting to the Nest service. Please try again in a few minutes.” The issue appears to be affecting both the iOS and Android apps, and has been going on for several hours.

He Nest status panel does not report any problems.

Google has not yet acknowledged the issue, but we will update this article as more details become available.
