iPhone keyboard in iOS 27 could offer ‘alternative word’ suggestions as part of autocorrect expansion
Recently in iOS 26.4, Apple implemented some changes to the iPhone keyboard that says it improves accuracy.
Now, according to a new Bloomberg report, it looks like even bigger keyboard updates could be coming with iOS 27.
Mark Gurman writes in Bloomberg:
Apple has explored an updated system keyboard that expands autocorrect by offering alternative words, the people said. It uses a similar approach to tools like Grammarly.
No final decision has been made on the release of the keyboard tool. The company improved its keyboard algorithms on iOS in recent days, aiming to provide a better autocorrect experience.
Some of these features don’t seem much different from what iOS offers now. But presumably the updated iOS 27 keyboard will be smarter and offer more useful suggestions than now.
These details about the keyboard update were part of a Larger report covering new Siri capabilitiessuch as the ability to handle multiple requests in a single query.
Although not explicitly stated, it seems likely that the new autocorrect feature could rely on some type of data from Apple Intelligence. Therefore, you may be limited to AI-enabled iPhone models.
iOS 27 will be fully revealed June 8 at WWDCand with each new report, it looks a lot like the kind of AI-filled launch that many users have been waiting for.
