iOS 27 beta 2 arrived today for developer testing and includes some welcome new features for RCS conversations in the Messages app.
iOS 27 improves RCS with the latest Messages features, including improved replies and reactions
Apple’s Messages app benefits from a variety of new features in iOS 27, such as helpful AI suggestions, more personalized smart responses, and more.
But some of the best updates could be related to RCS.
Today, after the arrival of iOS 27 beta 2, Aaron Perris uncovered The update adds at least two key RCS improvements:
- Proper reaction support, so there are no more “Aaron loved a picture” messages.
- Online answers
These changes are part of the RCS 2.7 Standardwhich means there may be even more improvements in iOS 27.
The ability to edit and unsend messages, for example, is also part of RCS 2.7. So it’s very possible that Apple has more improvements on the way.
With these latest RCS updates, along with recently released With end-to-end encryption support, RCS is much closer to replicating the iMessage experience.
