Apple is ready to announces iOS 27 and a completely new version of Siri at WWDC in just a few days. Before that, Bloomberg has published a monstrous summary of everything to expect from the event. There is one specifically interesting fact: the so-called new Siri could have a waiting list for people who want to try the new features.
iOS 27’s new Siri could be stuck behind a waitlist at launch
Bloomberg previously reported that Apple has described the new Siri as “beta” and “preview” within the company. This could also extend to the public release of features. You may also have to join a waiting list, according to today’s report:
Apple has internally labeled the new Siri as “beta” and “preview,” suggesting that the assistant won’t be marketed as fully finished software when it launches later this year. The original Siri kept the same description for two years. There is also the possibility of some kind of waiting list for people who want to try new features, an approach used with the initial launch of the Apple Intelligence platform in 2024.
As the report notes, this is similar to the strategy Apple adopted in 2024 when it launched the initial Apple Intelligence platform. When the first version of the functions debuted with iOS 18.1you can’t just jump in and test the features right away. Instead, you had to join the “Apple Intelligence Waitlist” in the iPhone’s Settings app.
The strategy makes especially sense for the new Siri that comes with iOS 26. It will be a completely new architecture for Apple, which will use Google’s Gemini models for the first time. It’s reasonable that Apple would want a slow rollout of features to gather feedback, monitor performance, and fix any technical issues.
What do you think of the new Siri and Apple Intelligence features coming in iOS 27? Does a waitlist strategy make sense? Let us know in the comments.
