Every week, we take a look at what people are working on in KDE Plasma. Well, okay, it’s not really a ‘sneak peek’, since KDE Plasma is open source, and you can just visit GitHub and see what everyone is working on. However, it definitely looks like we’re taking a curated look behind the curtain at what to expect from future releases, so it’s close enough.
It turns out that the KDE community is still moving forward adding features to Plasma 6.7, and one of the most interesting is related to Intel chips. If you have an Intel laptop, you may notice that KDE Plasma will not only run better, but it will also take less of a toll on your device’s battery.

The KDE community has published the new This week in the Plasma post on the official website. The most notable feature in this week’s release is aimed at KDE Plasma 6.7, which will enable an “overlay planes” feature for Intel GPUs. As long as the apps and games you use work well with overlapping planes, you should notice that they run better and consume less battery, which sounds great.
Aside from that, the Flatpak Discover store is also getting a bit of a makeover. If you thought Discover was already easy enough to use, KDE Plasma 6.7 will make browsing even easier:
Discover now has more sophisticated app page headers with more obvious install buttons! (Oliver Barba, discover MR #1297)
Discover no longer disables the “Learn More” button on list items for ongoing updates. (Tobias Fella, WHERE Bugzilla #431719)
KDE Plasma 6.7 will also fix a nasty bug where the desktop environment will constantly pester you with warnings if an automatic update of a Flatpak application introduces a compatibility issue. Now, you should only sound the alarm once.
