After rolling out to Google AI subscribers earlier this monthGemini app has now launched notebooks for free users.
At gemini.google.com, you’ll find a new “Notebooks” section in the side panel above Gems and Chats. These are the same notebooks that appear in the NotebookLM app. As such, you can continue creating video summaries, infographics, and other Studio output.
Projects that “give you a dedicated space to organize your chats and files” can be considered. Any conversation in the Gemini app can be added to a notebook from the additional three-dot menu.
Google will “consider all chats in (a) notebook when replying,” although there is a “notebook memory” setting that can be turned off. There is also support for providing custom instructions on tone and response format.
When you open a notebook, you can browse feeds above the message box, while a list of chats appears below. You also have access to the full suite of Gemini and web search tools.
The notebooks are now available for free users with up to 50 fonts. AI Plus subscribers get 100/laptop, while it’s 300/laptop for Pro and 600/laptop with Ultra.
Going forward, notebooks will be “personal knowledge bases shared across Google products.” The company teases “even more useful features” for laptops in the future. Laptops are not yet available on mobile or applications for macwith full availability during the “coming weeks”.
