microsoft has launched new Windows 11 Insider Preview Builds on June 8 for the Beta and Experimental channels. The update introduces a new 26H1 build train and allows users to extend Windows Update pauses as many times as necessary. Several bugs have also been fixed in this version.
New build structure for Windows 11 26H1
Microsoft is releasing a new series of build numbers for Windows 11 version 26H1. Those initiated into the Experimental channel (26H1) will now receive versions of the 28100 series, while a new Beta channel (26H1) based on the 28000 series is also being launched.
Insiders can switch between Beta (26H1) and Experimental (26H1) channels through Settings, Windows Update, Windows Insider Program, and selecting the experience.
This change does not require a clean reinstall of Windows and is handled as an in-place update. Microsoft has noted that Windows 11 26H1 is a specific build for specific silicon, including Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Series devices.
Most Insiders are recommended to stay on the default core version of Windows in the advanced options, rather than specifically selecting 26H1.
Beta Channel: Build 26220.8575
The Beta version now allows users to extend Windows Update pauses indefinitely. Previously, it was only possible to pause updates for a limited time. This update allows users to extend the pause repeatedly, providing greater control over when updates are installed.
This build also includes several bug fixes. Fixes issues where audio was not working for some Insiders after recent flights, as well as reliability issues with settings, apps, and installed apps.
Additionally, crashes that occurred when interacting with Search, Notepad, or other scenarios in the previous version have been resolved.
Experimental (26H1): Build 28120.2242
This update includes general improvements and fixes for the 26H1 experience. It also expands the rollout of Administrator Protection, which can now be enabled directly through Settings under Privacy & Security, Windows Security, Account Protection. To activate the function a reboot is necessary.
Previously, Administrator Protection was only available through IT administrator settings. The new Settings toggle makes the feature accessible to individual users who want to enable it without needing to manage group policies.
Beta (26H1): Build 28020.2236 minor improvements
This update includes a small number of general improvements and fixes. It does not introduce any specific new features.
No new versions were released this week for either the standard Experimental channel or the Future Platforms channel, including the Canary 29500 series.
