We have less than a month before. X-Men ’97 returns for season two, and you know what that means: time forward.
Appropriately named “Roll Call,” the trailer gives us a small glimpse of our time-displaced veterans. From ancient Egypt to the present and the distant future, everyone looks good in action and in their new outfits. (Nightcrawler sword fighting, Exodus and Storm taking advantage of the sun? Beautiful, I love seeing it). But the most interesting part of the trailer is when it highlights the season. fresh new faces that will help the team in the fight against Apocalypse. Fan-favorite mutants Strong Guy, Psylocke, Wolfsbane, Archangel, Siryn, Havok, Multiple Man, Polaris, are present and accounted for, as is the White Queen herself, Emma Frost.
The fact that these new characters are here is significant: except Emma, everyone else had cameos in the first season of X-Men ’97 thanks to Morph becoming them during fights. (Speaking of which, they have Silver Samurai in their shapeshifting stable this season!) Some of these rookies are also part of the current comic setting up the new characters and stories, so go ahead and read it.
Otherwise, the second season of X-Men ’97 arrives on Disney+ on July 1.
