Nothing highlights a new addition to its suite of smart features on its phones, which has audio transcriptions at its core.
Essential Voice is gearing up to launch for Nothing Phone 3 and Phone 4a users in May. Nothing states realized something about how we use our phones: while we’re mostly typing, the voice is “more natural” and “four times faster.” He says that while people often choose a voice note (or memo), transcriptions can be complicated once they’re finished. Essential Voice is claimed to be Nothing’s answer to smarter real-time speech-to-text capabilities on its phones.
One of the highlights of Essential Voice is its ability to remove filler words. Nothing anticipates this being particularly useful for users sending messages or emails. Plus, taking notes becomes much easier as Essential Voice supports shortcuts. The post states that users should think of this as a “library that is built over time.” Essential Voice will recognize when you say “send this to my email.” It will correct you to complete your email address and send the relevant information.

Android Central’s opinion
I’ve always liked the idea of voice notes/memos, but that’s the gamer in me. Looking at this practically, I like where Nothing’s mind is going. Voice notes can be crucial for remembering important details and coming back to them later. I don’t think anyone wants to go back to a replay and have all the “filler words” involved. In that sense, I think it’s good and I hope it works as well as Nothing says.
Additionally, your favorite places to eat and more are supported as Essential Voice can complete the location of those places. This feature will also come to phones 3 and 4a with support for over 100 languages. Nothing emphasizes that this is an opt-in feature and you don’t have to use it if you don’t want to. What’s more, Essential Voice “doesn’t listen in the background.”
If you wish, your recording is “encrypted and processed on our server” and then returned to your phone.
Make it all essential
Nothing has been working behind the scenes for a while, like a previous update (regarding Essential Space) released in march. This update focused on bringing the information that is important to users to the forefront. Nothing said that users would find “actionable information” such as important dates. It also added an “event” marker that “intelligently extracts” data from your captures to let you know when it’s important.
Android Central’s opinion
These days, nothing has really focused on making a more useful phone. He quickly brought his devices to the front of my vision. The phones have a decent level of usability and power, although it could be better. March’s Essential Spaces update gave me strong Samsung Now Brief vibes. The idea of bringing to light important information of the day is practically their entire modus operandi.
Last week, Nothing revealed– A way for Android users to send files to Mac, Windows, and Linux devices. It was an exciting reveal, but the company removed the app from the Play Store shortly after. The company claims it did this to “tune up” the product. There’s no sign of him returning yet, so we’re all left waiting.
