Nothing may finally put its name on a smartwatch, and it seems like the perfect entry to make the jump to Wear OS as well.
Although it sounds as if there is Some turbulence behind the scenes at NothingThe company moves forward with new products. Apparently next on the list is the Nothing smartwatch.
Yogesh Brar, leaker claims that Nothing is preparing to launch its first own-brand smartwatch in September, a product that would cost “less” than $300 and launch in “limited markets” with a design that ties into Nothing’s usual aesthetic.
Of course, this wouldn’t be Nothing’s first smartwatch as a brand. The company’s CMF sub-brand has already launched two smartwatches focused on budget customers, but there has never been a smartwatch directly from Nothing, and those CMF watches were rough.
The “less than $300” detail also seems revealing. CMF watches cost well under $100 and as such run a lightweight RTOS. With something more expensive on the table, it stands to reason that this could be more powerful, perhaps even running Google’s Wear OS. If we assume it sells in the $250-300 range, that would put it well below the Pixel Watch and Galaxy Watch lines, but it’s not like we haven’t seen more affordable Wear OS watches before. I, for one, hope this is what Nothing plans to do.
