Nvidia Reportedly planning to relaunch the RTX 3060 graphics card in June 2026, according to hardware leaker MEGAsizeGPU. The same source also claims that Nvidia has temporarily paused plans for a previously rumored 9GB VRAM version of the RTX 5050. NVIDIA has not officially confirmed any of the developments.
RTX 3060 specs and why a relaunch is important
The RTX 3060 was first released in January 2021 with an MSRP of $329. It has 3584 CUDA cores, 12 GB of GDDR6 memory on a 192-bit bus and boosts the clock speed up to 1777 MHz. The card is built on Samsung’s 8nm process node.
A relaunch would position the RTX 3060 against newer entry-level GPUs that still offer 8GB of VRAM, where the 12GB buffer offers a practical advantage for modern VRAM-intensive games. The card does not support DLSS frame generation, enhanced ray tracing, or the latest video encoding and AI features found in RTX 40 and RTX 50 series hardware.
Why an RTX 3060 relaunch makes manufacturing and pricing sense
Two factors make an RTX 3060 relaunch seem plausible from a production perspective. The card uses GDDR6 memory, which is less expensive than the GDDR7 memory found in current RTX 50 series cards. This could make it easier to produce in large quantities amid rising memory prices.
Additionally, Samsung’s 8nm process technology, used for the RTX 3060, is in lower demand compared to TSMC’s 5nm 4N process, which is used for the RTX 40 and RTX 50 series. This difference in demand could potentially free up manufacturing capacity.
The RTX 3060 12GB is currently priced between $350 and $400 on Amazon, while second-hand listings range between $150 and $200. Analysts estimate that a re-release price of around $200 could attract budget-conscious buyers, although no official price has been announced or leaked. Nvidia has not confirmed any details about a re-release or the reported delay of the RTX 5050 9GB version.
