What you need to know
- Samsung has reportedly started internal testing of its One UI 9 build for the Galaxy S25 series.
- There is little information available at this time; However, there has been speculation that an official beta could begin later in June or July.
- The Galaxy S26 kicked off its official One UI 9 Beta in May, before launching Beta 2 a couple of weeks later in mid-May.
The time has come; Samsung’s Galaxy S25 is reportedly getting some first glimpses of what’s to come for its next major Android operating system.
Last night (June 4), informant Tarun tanks in X reported that Samsung has allegedly started testing A user interface 9 internally for the Galaxy S25 series (via SamMobile). According to Vats, Samsung’s “first internal build” has reportedly gone live, indicating that its year-old flagship series is moving into the next phase of Android testing. The unfortunate thing is that the tipster wasn’t able to dive into this initial build to see what Samsung is working on.
This is likely coming later and is something users should look forward to. Comments began with users asking when to expect a beta version of this. Vats points out that Samsung’s testing for its next major Android operating system is earlier than usual (for older generations). In 2025, internal testing began in mid-June for the S24 series.
This year, for S25, it is the first week of June. Getting back to the topic, Vats speculates that an official One UI 9 Beta for the S25 series could begin later in June or sometime in July. One user asked when testing of the S24 could be expected to begin, to which Vats responded (he speculated), “next month.”
One UI 9 is flying
If true, then this is good news for Samsung’s recent flagships. The Galaxy S26 series, which launched with One UI 8.5, was rumored to have started. internal tests in march. Two months later, at the beginning of maySamsung officially launched it as One UI 9 Beta for enrolled Galaxy S26 users. A couple of weeks after that, the company quickly pushed One UI 9 Beta 2 to your registered Galaxy testers.
From what was seen from the beginning, Samsung was working on new customization tools in its Notes application and a direct link between the Contacts applications with Creative Studio. The Quick Panel also received some changes, separating the brightness, sound, and media player options for better control. As far as Beta 2 is concerned, Samsung released a 1.6 GB patch that mainly contained fixes.
Android Central’s opinion
Samsung has moved quickly with One UI 9 for its Galaxy S26 series. I know there are Galaxy S25 users (myself included) who are hoping to avoid One UI 8.5 with what’s coming next. It would be nice if the next software arrives at similar times for both series before we start going back to other previous generations. Only time will tell.
