In mid-May, Plex surprised its users by announcing that it was tripling the cost of your lifetime plan from $249.99 to $749.99. Luckily, the company gave us until July 1 before the change went into effect, meaning anyone who wasn’t sure about buying one could still pick it up before the price went up.
Well, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that Plex is back on a $249.99 price plan. The bad news is that it will now only give you five years of service instead of a lifetime.

It is much thinner than the previous one.
Beyond the Plex websiteThe company has changed a few words in its Plex Pass lifetime pricing article. The original article simply said at the top of the page that a price increase was coming; Now that the deadline has passed, the passage has been updated with new information:

If you’ve been out of the loop, Plex originally tripled the price of the Lifetime Pass so that it “continues to more accurately reflect its true value.” The Lifetime Pass originally debuted at $75, then stabilized at $120 for nearly a decade. It then jumped to $249.99 in April 2025 and now to $749.99 this month. This new 5-year plan is likely an effort to close the huge gap between the Annual Pass at $69.99 and the Lifetime Pass at $749.99.
