Following last year’s choice between two prioritiesRoborock’s new Saros 20 focuses on improved navigation as the focus of what has become one of the best robot vacuums you can buy.
If you’ve looked into robotic vacuums and mops, you’ll have heard of Roborock. The brand has been developing some stellar products over the years, and the new Saros 20 takes all that experience and brings it together into one offering.
During the last weeks, Roborock Saros 20 He has been given the task of cleaning my house and, simply put, he has done an excellent job. That starts with the vacuum itself, which this year boasts an impressive 36,000 Pa suction power, an increase of more than 60%. While most of my house has hard floors, the Saros 20 worked noticeably better at removing dog hair from carpeted areas, something that has frustrated me for years with other options. Meanwhile, the mop sticks with two heads, which I certainly prefer to Roborock’s older vibrating pad, although You can still opt for that if you want.. It is still a deep cleaner with its extendable arm to better clean corners.
Much of what’s new in Roborock Saros 20 are refinements and continue to build on important updates from previous years. But the biggest impact I’ve seen is from Roborock’s updated “Adaptift chassis.” Roborock says this new system can lift the robot over thresholds up to 3.46 inches high on dual thresholds. there is nothing in my house quite about that big, but where I’ve noticed a difference is in a part of my living room that has a high threshold followed by uneven stone tiles. While even Saros 10 needed to leave that as a no-go zone to ensure the robot didn’t get stuck, Saros 20 quickly passes through it. it’s a important update for me, addressing a long standing issue.
That leaves my couch, which is fair tight enough that the Saros 20’s 3.13-inch height gets stuck underneath from time to time. That couch is the only place where the Starsight navigation system falls a little short—it’s great for mapping and avoiding obstacles everywhere else in my house.
The other nice improvement this year is the “RockDock,” which has been redesigned inside and out. The outer layer now has a clean, matte gray look that looks much better, but still retains the easy-access water containers on top. Roborock has improved the interior with hot water cleaning and mop drying improvements. Although only time will tell, so far the base has stayed a little cleaner than previous models I’ve tried.
The Roborock app is still great, offering an easy-to-use map and readily available features. Of course, this wouldn’t be a 2026 product without new AI features, and one of them is “Pet Friendly Intelligence” where Roborock will use the built-in camera to take pictures of your pets or even search for them around the house. It’s a great idea in theory, but I find that most pets, including mine, are more afraid of robot vacuums than anything else.
As mentioned at the beginning, the Roborock Saros 20 isn’t exactly a reinvention of the wheel. Thanks to years of development, it’s already one of the best robotic vacuums on the market, but improvements like working on threshold crossing address long-standing pain points and improve the experience for the end user.
If you haven’t updated your robot vacuum in a few years, the Saros 20 is a excellent choice.
