Gaming rumors have recently launched one of the biggest rumors in the history of gaming and tabletops, if it is to be believed, as an alleged leak has been detected regarding an upcoming crossover between the popular MMORPG. world of warcraft and the historic tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons.
According ENWorld Tabletop RPG News FansiteThis ‘leak’ comes from a post on Roll20, an online virtual tabletop website that is a partner of Dungeons & Dragons.
Reveals that Dungeons & Dragons is making a tabletop RPG version of world of warcraft titled ‘D&D World of Warcraft’, which was scheduled to be announced at a board gaming convention called Gen Con next week, on July 30, 2026.

The post was quickly deleted, but ENWorld managed to save a preview image and images related to the announcement via its website, including the title post that read “Pre-order D&D World of Warcraft!”
ENWorld has reached out to Dungeons & Dragons publisher Wizards of the Coast to confirm this supposed validity “leak” and will post an update when they hear back from them.
Windows Central’s opinion
A good portion of World of Warcraft’s story, setting, characters, and monsters are heavily inspired by Dungeons & Dragons, and in turn, World of Warcraft even influenced Dungeons & Dragons, particularly in its fourth edition, where many of its gameplay mechanics became heavily gamified (speaking from experience here when I saved my party countless times as a healing-focused cleric in D&D:4e).
Now Wizards of the Coast is no stranger to crossing its franchises with others, as Dungeons & Dragons’ sister game, Magic: The Gathering, has had crossovers with final fantasy, warhammer 40,000stranger things, tomb RaiderGhostbusters, Hatsune Miku of all things and many more.
So the idea of a D&D World of Warcraft tabletop RPG would make a lot of sense and would be a great cross-play, that is, if it turns out to be true. I know I’d be willing to attend roleplaying sessions where the DM would let us act out fun fanfiction adventures where we could change events from Warcraft history in hilarious ways.
Either way, we’ll have to wait and see if this alleged leak turns out to be true at Gen Con next week on July 30, 2026. and remember, always take rumors and leaks with a grain of salt.
