Samsung could finally redesign Galaxy phones, maybe


According to a leaker, Samsung could be working on a redesign of its Galaxy S smartphones, but there is a huge asterisk that could put us in the same situation as the Galaxy S26 series.

Drain Work on the Korean social networking site Naver says that Samsung is considering a redesign of the rear camera in the “next” Galaxy S model, which would be the Galaxy S27. In a comment on the post, Work says Qi2/magnetic accessories are a “part” of why Samsung is considering the change.

Ironically, this comes shortly after Samsung called the vertical camera design a “core identity” of Galaxy devices, implying that it wouldn’t change.

The post also implies that the camera specs could also be revised in the next generation, something we’ve been hearing for years.

This all sounds great. We’ve been saying that Samsung has painted itself into a corner around Qi2 which, as a growing industry standard, will continue to make third-party accessories increasingly difficult to use with Galaxy phones over time; Unlike what some online discussions may imply, Qi2 magnets are not. all about the load.

But, unfortunately, there is a big “if” in this conversation.

The possible delay in Samsung’s introduction of this new redesign to the Galaxy S27 apparently depends on “recent cost issues” that could delay the “full review,” “on hold,” as the post says. Samsung already postpone a bunch of updates which were expected to debut in the Galaxy S26 series due to cost concerns and trying to match the price of the iPhone, and which didn’t even work out with prices still rising on certain variants.

Given that the impacts of the RAM crisis continue, and likely won’t improve any time soon, I personally don’t have much hope that we’ll see this redesign any time soon.
