What you need to know
- Samsung’s Project Haean XR glasses have reportedly appeared in the One UI 9 code and are being talked about for release again.
- The appearance was basic, accompanied only by its model number, as well as two others, which could be “variants.”
- Rumors about Project Haean abounded in 2025, with some suggesting its specifications could include transition lenses, an in-lens display, speakers, multiple cameras, and more.
It’s been a while since Samsung’s XR glasses made headlines, and this suggests that its development could lead to an eventual launch this year.
A dive into the depths of A user interface 9 by AssembleDebug tipster (Android Authority) discovered a surprising mention of Samsung’s Project Haean smart glasses. It supposedly bears the model number “SM-O500”. The tipster claims that the One UI 9 code was packed with Samsung’s XR projects, such as its Galaxy XR headphones, which have a completely different model number.
However, it was claimed that there are two other model numbers present, which could also be “variants” of a different pair of smart glasses. Apart from this brief mention, the tipster couldn’t find much else about the product.

If we had to guess, it’s probably the calm before the storm. There have been cases where a Samsung model number appeared, followed by an illustration for explanation purposes later. This could happen, as the publication theorizes that a launch could take place sometime in 2026.
Looks like it’s back
Project Haean was widely discussed in 2025, with rumors alleging that Samsung was working on a pair of Android devices. XR glasses to rival Meta’s Ray-Ban. Early leaks suggested the device could weigh around 50 grams with multiple cameras, respond to gestures/facial recognition, and complete payments. Galaxy AI is expected to power the device and display information on its HUD (display), while also producing sound through its frame.
Last year it was reported that Samsung was taking a hard look at Project Haean to make sure they were comfortable to use. The interesting thing about this new leak is that another rumor last year claimed that the device could carry the model number SM-O500P. AssembleDebug mentioned this “P” addition this week, but as a “variant” of the model. Rumors suspected that the glasses would lack mobile data, but would feature support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Project Haean was expected to debut last year, but that did not happen.
With rumors coming back (with a model number on One UI 9 to boot), maybe 2026 is the year.
Android Central’s opinion
Project Haean will definitely be an interesting product once it is launched. Samsung’s Galaxy I suspect Project Haean will be the same; attract consumers interested in the smart glasses market. I imagine the display capabilities will be something to keep in mind. How will Samsung display information about these lenses and what other capabilities will it bring?
