Siri AI will make Apple Watch a full AI wearable in watchOS 27

While not available in the first beta, Siri AI is coming to the Apple Watch in watchOS 27. In my opinion, this is the biggest change for the device in a long time.

watchOS 27 goes beyond Apple’s delayed Siri promise from two years ago

When Apple first unveiled its AI strategy at WWDC in June 2024, the Apple Watch wasn’t really part of the improved Siri and Apple Intelligence story.

Two years later, Apple promises to bring Siri AI to the Apple Watch with watchOS 27. This includes the dedicated Siri app, and early reviews of the new Siri AI system are really positive.

With iOS 27 Developer Beta 1, users can now experience Siri AI in a screenless context with AirPods.

That’s a solid component of the wearable AI strategy. AirPods will extend Siri AI on the Apple Watch, just like the iPhone.

What excites me most about Siri AI on Apple Watch specifically is all the contexts in which it will be available.

I definitely don’t always use my AirPods and I don’t always have my iPhone unlocked and available.

My Apple Watch, on the other hand, is almost always unlocked on my wrist and ready to go.

If Siri AI continues to impress and watchOS 27 delivers as promised, Apple Watch will be the first AI wearable product overnight.

If it works, it will be a truly novel and compelling pitch for an already successful product category.

Apple Watch Series 11 It is currently priced at $299 on Amazon. Apple Watch Ultra 3 It has a 90-day low price of $699 at Amazon. watchOS 27 requires Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, or Apple Watch SE 3.
