Don’t get me wrong; get Condemn running on things is awesome. Seeing the classic FPS running on all types of screens is always a pleasure. But I think we can start to move away from Condemn and start to see what we can fill minecraft instead. I mean, we’ve already seen minecraft previously running on smart bulb hardware, so I think there’s real potential there.
Case in point: someone has gotten Minecraft to run on a Game Boy Color. And no, it’s not a 2D remake of evasion either; It’s a fully 3D game where you can remove blocks, build structures, and even see the texture of trees if you feel like it.
Minecraft on Game Boy Color is strangely playable
It’s not perfect, but it can be played.
How he saw it RetroDodoThis great project comes to us through Game of Tobi. I’m not familiar with their previous work, but they claim they got minecraft in operation on a Game Boy Advance in a previous video. Since they’ve now included it in an older Game Boy model, I’m willing to believe their claim.
It turns out that minecraft on Game Boy Color it’s surprisingly playable. You won’t be fighting monsters or mining diamonds anytime soon, but you can punch a tree and make a house out of its wood. You can also create a portal and go to the Nether if that’s your thing. For a gaming device that is not designed for 3D graphics, it does its job very well.
Game of Tobi also mentions that you can, if you’re feeling daring, turn on tree textures. However, the sheer weight of render logs really slows down the game, so maybe it’s best to keep it turned off.
