Even some of us here at Windows Central are baffled by Sony’s decision, wondering, “What’s the point of a discless console?” as PC gaming offers more ways to keep games and allow players to own the games they purchase without DRM restrictions through GOGOFor example.
In fact, it has attracted so much attention that big brands inside and outside the gaming industry have started giving various responses to Sony on social media, mocking the company and supporting gamers who prefer physical media.
First, we have Domino’s Pizza, of all things, giving this humorous response mocking Sony’s decision on X, stating that they will be “Stop producing physical pizzas and move to producing only digital pizzas” and saying that “Consumers will be able to download our full range of delicious pizza codes and, using the power of imagination, enjoy them in a completely virtual sense.”
One of Domino Pizza’s biggest rivals, KFC also made a similar response on its Spanish X accountsaying via translation, “BREAKING NEWS: KFC will stop offering its physical format starting today. Its products can only be consumed through its application in fake PNG format.”

It will send smart employees to your current location to help you with FAQs and technical support, and send encrypted letters, among other fun services meant to poke fun at Sony’s decision.
However, not all responses are entirely satirical. Online rental retailer GameFly took to X to announce its disappointment over Sony’s decision to remove physical games from PlayStation.
He believes in the power of physical entertainment media and will continue to support gamers and collectors who prefer physical media by proclaiming: “We are committed to renting physical media, whether games or movies, until they tear the discs from our soft, moist hands.”

There’s no doubt that many more companies will respond to Sony regarding this industry-changing decision, both satirical and serious, in the coming weeks.
