T-Mobile has hit its older customers with a sudden price hike, with original plans eliminated and subscription costs rising as much as $6 per line per month.
According to first reports, now confirmed by T-MobileThe company has begun migrating a large number of customers from older plans to newer ones. Most of those affected have grandfathered Simple Choice, ONE/ONE Plus, Magenta and Sprint plans.
T-Mobile has already started sending emails and messages to affected customers. In the notification, the company says that users will retain their current benefits while getting additional benefits and better service experiences. T-Mobile also offers a 5-year price guarantee on new plans.
In a statement, T-Mobile said it will retire its older plans, some of which were built more than 15 years ago during the 3G and 4G era. The company noted that “customers will move to modern plans with access to better wireless technology, improved features and a 5-year price guarantee.”
He added that some customers will see no change to their monthly bill, while others will see a modest adjustment, and that each customer who moves to a new plan will keep their existing benefits while getting improvements to the network and service experience.

A Reddit post also shed some light on what the new plans will look like. They will be included in a new category called Experience Signatures/Select/More/Beyond plans and will include benefits like unlimited premium data with shared hotspot and ad-free Netflix on most tiers.
