TL;DR
- The PR team that previously supported Trump Mobile has reportedly left.
- It is unclear if Trump Mobile is currently using a different public relations team.
The T1 phone, commonly known as the Trump phone, has had quite a tumultuous history. From concerns about vaporware to a data breach affecting thousands. More recently, a confirmed teardown that the phone was simply a modified, gold-plated version of the HTC U24 Pro. But that’s the goal of a PR firm: to put a positive spin on bad stories. However, it seems that the mess may have grown too much even for Trump Mobile’s public relations team.
According The edgePoplar Group has stopped representing Trump Mobile. The company’s founding partner, Chris Walker, told the outlet that his team “will no longer assist Trump Mobile.” As a reminder, Walker is the person who gave a statement to USA today stating that T1 phones are made in the United States. This was later found to be untrue, something Trump Mobile now admits.
It is unclear whether Trump Mobile has landed a new public relations and media firm to replace Poplar Group. The edge reports that Walker did not know if the phone company is currently using a new public relations firm. Another strange entry added to this strange saga.
