Almost a year after his debut trailer, Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners 2, the long-awaited sequel to the popular Cyberpunk 2077 spin-off anime, has uploaded a new trailer showing fans what the show will be like, while confirming that it will stream exclusively on Netflix during Fall 2026.
Like its predecessor, Edgerunners 2 will be a standalone story set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077 that will run for 10 episodes.
The YouTube video description says the story will be “a stark chronicle of redemption and revenge. In a city that thrives on violence, one question remains: when the world is blinded by spectacle, what lengths do you have to go to for your story to matter?”
Windows Central’s opinion
While I personally haven’t watched the original Edgerunners anime (which I really need to fix in the future once my current warhammer 40,000 No more obsession), even I can say that this show left a huge impact that is still felt 4 years later.
People fell in love with Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners for its gripping story, intriguing characters, and bombastic animation and art direction that only Studio Trigger, the studio behind the show, can deliver.
It brought a whole new audience to the video game Cyberpunk 2077 during its difficult early days and even convinced people who didn’t like it at first to give it a second chance.
It even inspired CD Projekt Red when it was creating the revolutionary DLC, Phantom Liberty, for incorporate some of the anime’s depictions of Cyberpunk 2077’s combat into the base game to make it feel faster and enemies more threatening.
From the looks of this trailer, it looks like Edgerunners 2 will be even grittier, crazier, and more violent than the first Edgerunners, and I have no doubt that fans are eager to see when it releases this fall on Netflix.
What do you think of Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners 2? Are you looking forward to watching it when it comes out on Netflix? Does it make you want to see the first Edgerunners or play the video game Cyberpunk 2077?
