As rumoredWalmart has quietly introduced a collection of Onn-branded TVs that work with Google TV, with prices starting at $248.
Walmart, the company who bought vizio Not long ago, it was no stranger to selling its own brand televisions. There have been a number of Onn-branded TVs, including several that run Vizio’s Cast OS. But some listings earlier this year suggested that a new batch would run Google TV, and sure enough, it arrived.
This starts with two fairly simple QLED 4K UHD sets that are pretty incredible deals. There’s a 55-inch model for $248 and a 65-inch size for $358. Both include 60Hz panels, Dolby Vision, and a modified version of the same remote used on Walmart’s Google TV streaming devices. Both models offer three HDMI ports. No details are provided on dimming zones and such, but they seem at least half decent for the price.

Much more interesting here is that Walmart Onn is now the newest brand, following others like TCL and Hisense – use Google TV to create a competitor to Samsung’s “The Frame” series.
“The Fresco” is Walmart’s attempt, with 55- and 65-inch sizes that include a matte anti-glare finish on the screen and a faux wood frame in “Walnut” or “Golden Brown.”

Compared to the previous sets, these sets seem a lot Slimmer and more modern, and there’s a unique remote control too. The frame can be removed (and is held together by magnets) and there is a “telescopic hanger” wall mount that appears to be included. “Gallery Mode” can browse through artwork or your own personal photographs. Like cheaper sets, Dolby Vision and 4K UHD are displayed with this QLED panel, and Walmart mentions Apple AirPlay support in “The Fresco,” something it doesn’t mention on lower-end units. These also have three HDMI ports.
Pricing is $548 and $698 for the 55-inch and 65-inch sizes, respectively.
Again, it’s hard to disagree with that price, assuming the quality is actually decent in person. Walmart’s initial review program was active on “The Fresco”, with largely positive response; Take it with a grain of salt, of course, since these are not real buyers.
