Tipster AssembleDebug was investigating the latest version of the Play Store when they supposedly discovered work for a new security-focused warning system (via Android Authority). According to the tipster, Google is apparently working to alert users about apps on their devices that are no longer supported or available through the Play Store. There were some early code strings in the Play Store app that supposedly reference this.

This sounds like when a phone no longer receives updates from any company. It becomes a security problem. Users should know that they will not have security updates to keep them safe. Likewise, I’d like to know if an app was removed from the Play Store due to a developer mishap or if they no longer want it there. That level of security may seem like a security blanket to most users.
One string discovered says: “…was removed from Google Play and will no longer receive updates.” Another string instance seems to offer more, such as detailing the name of an app, while also telling you about a number (say 2 more) that has also been removed from the store. To that, the tipster claims that Play Store alerts can “change depending on the number of apps removed.”
Of course, this is likely a security measure by Google to ensure that Android users remain safe, especially when using a Play Store app that no longer exists. The tipster assumes that these alerts could be useful when an app is removed for violating Play Store policy. Users will likely be encouraged to delete/uninstall such an app, as an app without proper updates can leave it vulnerable.
