The monthlyGoogle System Release Notes“It mainly details what’s new in Play services, Play Store and the Play system update on Android phones/tablets, Wear OS, Google/Android TV, Auto and PC. Some features apply to end users, while others are aimed at developers.
The following proprietary applications make up the “Google System”:
To update, open the Settings app > tap your name at the top for “Google Services” (on Pixel) > All services tab > Privacy & security > System services.
A feature listed in the changelog does not mean it is widely available. Some capabilities take months to fully launch.

- (Phone) This update adds theft protection support for newly configured and activated devices in the UK.
- (Phone) With this update, remote locking and theft detection locking are enabled by default on devices running Android 17.
- (Phone) A survey may be displayed when you turn off advanced protection mode.

- (Phone) This feature allows players to report player profile names on the Play Store.
- (Phone) You can now view detailed daily play time statistics when you select streak icons.

- (Phone) With this update, Quick Share allows you to transfer content from Android to iOS with a QR code and cloud transfer.

- (Phone) You can now translate public safety broadcasts from Wireless Emergency Alerts into your device’s system language.

- (Phone) With the new update, a scam prevention feature automatically ends calls posing as supported bank phone numbers.

- (Phone) You can now backup and restore Autofill with Google settings.

Google Play Store v51.4 (2026-05-11)
- (Phone) With this update, AI Overview and Ask Play provide content-focused search results for sports, media and entertainment, with access to trailers and where to watch.
- (Phone) You can now enjoy manga and webtoon samples in participating comic apps directly on the app details page to preview and discover your favorite comics.
- (Phone) You can now choose to receive weekly super rewards and other offers directly to your inboxes via notifications and email.
