Warhammer 2026 skulls has come and gone, and has brought a huge wave of exciting war hammer gaming news, including new games, DLC updates for existing titles, and an upcoming crossover with helldivers 2.
One of my favorite ads from the event is a preview of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue TraderThe upcoming third DLC expansion, “The Infinite Museion,” which was revealed to be coming to PC, Xbox Series|Yes, PlayStation 5and nintendo switch 2 on June 11, 2026.
However, Owlcat Games thought that wasn’t enough fuel to get fans excited. So, the developers have finally given us a proper look at the new augmentation system (via the game’s Steam page) that will be included in the DLC expansion.
I was already looking forward to returning to Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader to experience this DLC with its intriguing premise, where we raid the museum of Trazyn the Infinite (a popular character from Warhammer 40,000 lore) and recruit the enigmatic new Tech-Priest companion, Eogunn Februs.
However, this new boost system has skyrocketed my anticipation levels for this DLC expansion, as it looks to transform the entire game as we know it, and I can’t wait to try it out.
What is this new Augmentation system?
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader’s new augmentation system is a new gameplay mechanic that will allow the player to graft cybernetic implants into their bodies or replace entire limbs with robotic ones.
The DLC expansion will introduce over 100 cybernetic augmentations throughout the entire game, one of which will offer incredibly powerful passive and active abilities that will change the way you take out enemies in turn-based battles.
These abilities can range from teleporting long distances to attacking enemies from behind or improving a character’s attack or defense stats.
Each character will have six slots available for cybernetic augmentation by default (two head slots, one torso slot, two hand slots, and one leg slot). However, characters with Forge World or Adeptus Mechanicus backgrounds may have more augmentation slots as befits their techno nature.
To top it all off, each character will have an additional “Galvanization” slot, which can be used to overclock one of your equipped augmentations to further increase their powers for one turn during battle, at the cost of suffering a penalty afterwards.
The price of becoming one with the machines
After hearing this, you would probably think that this system is overpowered like hell. However, the augmentation system has disadvantages in preserving the balance of the game.
For example, some characters are incompatible with this system for personal reasons, such as Cassia who refuses to be touched, Yrilet and Marazhai, or due to their advanced biology, such as Ulfar the Space Marine. Additionally, some augmentations are conviction locked, meaning Dogmatic-aligned characters will refuse to use Heretic-aligned augments, and vice versa.
Additionally, each boost comes with a negative passive trait to balance its positive trait, such as causing your character to suffer status effects or lowering certain stats. Additionally, the more cybernetic augmentations you receive, the more susceptible you are to electrical and EMP damage.
I can’t wait to spend hundreds of hours turning my entourage into cyborg abominations.
Overall, this augmentation system sounds absolutely crazy. It can potentially open up tons of new character creation theorycrafting options for your party and further enhance Rogue Trader’s already gigantic amount of replay value.
Not to mention, this augmentation system will give our characters new cosmetic appearances that will alter their bodies with new cybernetic limbs that have elegant or disturbing designs, depending on their alignment.
I loved the Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader DLC expansions like Void Shadows and Imperial Law for introducing hundreds of hours of gameplay content that changes the entire game from the ground up, and judging by this boost system, The Infinite Museion expansion will certainly be no different.
I’m sure the new content will definitely keep me busy until the next Warhammer 40,000 CRPG from Owlcat Games. Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresywill eventually be released in the future.
If you love Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, then this DLC expansion is a must-have entry on your wish list. If you’ve never played Warhammer games before but enjoy CRPGs with a dark, grim story and setting, then this DLC expansion releasing on June 11, 2026 will be the perfect time to start.
If you need further convincing, consult my former colleague, Samuel Tolbert’s 4-star review of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Traderwhere he proclaimed, “Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is a fun RPG with stellar writing that really captures the dark future of the eternal war. Options and options galore never detract or feel ill-suited to the setting, and clever design makes it a solid entry point for any newcomer to Warhammer.”
