microsoft has confirmed a bug affecting the Recycle Bin in windows 11 after this month’s Patch Tuesday update.
Users have also reported several other issues since the release of the June 2026 update earlier this week, including issues with OneDrive access, File Explorer performance, blue screen of death errors, and BitLocker recovery messages.
The Recycle Bin issue is the only bug that Microsoft has officially acknowledged so far. The update in question is KB5095051.
According to Microsoft’s known issues page, the Recycle Bin issue appears to be an edge case linked to the confirmation dialog and is not associated with data loss.

This issue is limited to the confirmation message; the Recycle Bin window continues to display the correct original file name. When you restore a file, it returns to its original location with the correct name.
Files deleted via the dialog are deleted as expected, so the error does not cause data loss or major interruptions. Microsoft says a fix is available, but only commercial users can implement it.
System administrators should contact Microsoft Business Support for details on mitigation. Home users and other non-business users will have to wait for a future Windows update to receive an official fix.

If the problems continue, check Settings, then Windows Update and view the update history. Use the Uninstall Updates option to remove the latest update if necessary.

Users who encounter the Recycle Bin dialog box error can usually ignore it for now, as the files are still deleted correctly even if the file name displayed in the confirmation message is incorrect.
