I recently covered Winhanceddelving into why I personally prefer to use it over Microsoft’s current offerings, which is essentially just the full-screen Xbox app using the previously named Xbox full-screen experience. now renamed Xbox Mode.
Well, since my initial article, the team behind Winhanced has released a new update for everyone. Adds several fixes for devices like the Legion Go, along with a new low-power download mode.
In the latest version, 0.9.6.5, Winhanced introduces a new low-power download mode. Similar to Steam platformThis allows your device to stay on in a lower power state while downloading games, with Winhanced recognizing when the screen would normally turn off and instead keeping the device awake using a lower TDP state to help reduce battery consumption.
In addition to this new update, the team also released new icons to give the launcher a cleaner overall design, including custom glass-style icons for your different libraries, which are quite reminiscent of the new Xbox glass-designed logo or Apple’s liquid glass aesthetic.
Winhanced is making great progress and version 1.0 will arrive at some point in the future. The app also shows off some awesome features planned for future releases, but for now, you can download the latest version from its website, which can be found here, and join their Discord community here.
I already wrote an entire article explaining why I think you should give Winhanced a chance, and I plan to cover more updates in the future as they are released. So let me know your opinion about the launcher, if you have already tried it, if this new update is enough to attract you or maybe if you use a completely different launcher.
