Meta Horizon Plus is a gateway to virtual reality gaming on the company’s Quest headset. We’re always looking to expand our libraries and Meta is partnering with Xbox to do so.
This morning (July 21), was announced that Meta Horizon Plus and Xbox Game Pass are coming together. Specifically, Meta says the “initial edition” of Xbox Game Pass will give VR users “a library of over 50 games.” The two companies have included a mix of titles, ranging from popular AAA games to indie titles. The press release says that users will find Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 from Bethesda Softworks, Overcooked 2 (chaotic cooperative cooking game) from Ghost Town Games, Deep Rock Galactic, and more.
What’s more, Meta says the initial edition of Xbox Game Pass will offer 10 hours of cloud gaming “every month.” This allows users to stream their games, not download them. Users can play with others using cloud and PC multiplayer. Don’t worry; Meta says there will be an option to “download titles from the library for unlimited play.”
Synchronized progression is another important aspect.
If you’ve been playing with your Meta VR headset and switched to your Xbox, your game progress (save data) will remain. This will remain constant whether you play on an Xbox, PC, Metasearch headphones or other compatible device. Users also have the opportunity to earn additional rewards by playing the game. Xbox Game Pass for the Meta Horizon Plus subscription launches today (July 21).
Meta adds: “Your Meta Horizon+ subscription also includes exclusive offers to help you complete your Meta Quest library. It’s all yours for just $59.99 USD per year or $7.99 USD per month. You can even Try Meta Horizon+ for a month free“.
There’s more to experience soon. Meta says it is working on a way to allow users to emulate an Xbox gamepad with their mission touch controllers. Users can expect this support to roll out in the coming weeks. For now, however, users can play their Xbox games on their Quest headset without a controller, or they can pair their controller with their headset for a “traditional experience.”
Meta and Xbox together for the sake of gaming is nothing new. In case you missed it, the two companies collaborated on a Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition in June 2025. This headset was actually a limited edition device. Meta’s store was sold out. quicklyand many consumers faced Best buy or resellers (ouch!). The Xbox Edition Quest 3S wasn’t much different from the standard model. The packaging is where they differ.
There’s the classic Xbox green and black color scheme, as well as a “pre-installed special edition Elite Strap.” Consumers received an Xbox controller included with the purchase, which was already paired with the system. Turning it on and playing is always the way to go, and that’s what this offers.

The emulation of the Meta Touch controllers is quite good. I do enjoy the classic controller style gameplay though. I usually play on a PC these days, but I also play more on my console. Play with a controller, rest. There is nothing better. Goal adding Xbox Game Pass to its Horizon Plus subscription service is also a big win for people who love VR and gaming on a VR headset. Xbox Game Pass has a pretty good selection of games. If I had one, I definitely would.
